Rev. T. Mitchell

Greetings! All praises be to God. I am honored to accept this elevation to the role of Pastor of the greatest church this side of Heaven, Bon Air Missionary Baptist Church. I have been privileged to experience many great accomplishments in my life, but none compares to the magnitude of becoming your Pastor. It is no secret that I am a proud product of the rich legacy and heritage of Bon Air. However, while growing up here, I never dreamed of the day that I would become the Pastor. I completely understand that this moment will forever be a major milestone in my life. After much prayer and consideration, I believe that this decision is divinely ordained, and I am humbled and privileged to become your Servant Leader. I’m extremely proud and thankful for my father, Pastor, and mentor Dr. Rev. J. E. Mitchell, for his faithfulness and dedicated service to the Bon Air Church Family for nearly forty-eight years. He is truly a living legend, a pioneer, and a Pastor’s Pastor. I am also proud and extremely thankful to God for my mother, First Lady Bobbie Mitchell, for all that she has sown into my life and into the lives of the members of Bon Air. She has served faithfully and lovingly, even when her health wasn’t the best. She truly is a living example of a Proverbs 31 virtuous woman. As I reflect on this new endeavor, I’m reminded of Elisha, when the Lord allowed him to walk with the Prophet Elijah, in order for him to learn and watch the Lord at work. When the time came for the mantle to be passed, Elisha asked his mentor, Elijah, to grant him a double portion of his spirit. Like Elisha, I too am praying that the Lord will allow me to be as great of a man, father, and Pastor as my mentor, Rev. J. E. Mitchell. As you all know, I am not in this alone. God has blessed me with a wonderful helpmeet, partner and friend, Kimberly Mitchell, along with our wonderful children, James and Jada. I am so grateful to God for them, and for the fact that He is allowing them to stand by my side as we embark upon this enormous journey together. Words cannot express the gratitude I have for the outpouring of love and support that has been given to my family and me. I want to thank the entire Bon Air Church Family for your thoughtfulness, love, and prayers during this transitional period. I would like to especially thank all of my family members, immediate and extended, and also my friends and coworkers who have come from near and far for this great occasion. All of you are truly a blessing to me and will remain dear to my heart. Lastly, as Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 2:9, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ears heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” I agree with Paul in that I am excited and elated about this journey. I’m eagerly anticipating the wonderful things that God is about to do at the Bon Air Missionary Baptist Church.
May God Bless You,
Pastor Mitchell
